Lusvardi Art presents "MY little DEMON for 2024", a multidisciplinary group show in which each artist brings his individual research to the exhibition.
On display works by artists Agostino Artese, DOMINIK, Flavio Degen, Elisa Ewert, Jake Kent, Natalia Korotyaeva, David Kroell, Laura Lusvardi, Alessandro Rauschmann and Rebecca Picci.
Depending on the culture and time, the concept of "demon", an intermediate entity between divine and human, presents a multiplicity of traits so vast and varied that eschews any univocal definition.
Lusvardi likewise hosts heterogeneous works, "daimon", interpreted in its meaning of personification of individual conscience, that each artist expresses and conveys through different media, processes, contents and intentions.
Agostino Artese explores intimacy through photography as a means of redefining boundaries. The artist David Kroell makes direct interventions on space that denote research into the invisible and unobserved. Elisa Ewert's explorations on the surfaces of urban spaces materialize in amorphous ceramics and paintings in a research on materiality, space, transience and transformation, while Laura Lusvardi creates large tapestries and oil paints.
Alessandro Rauschmann multimedia artist who combines performance, sculpture, film, photography, collage and painting, with his objet sujet, brings to the exhibition a demon in the form of a Tibetan mask with five skulls representing negative feelings, which must transform into their positive opposites.
Jake Kent, English artist, presents Punker emblem of a poetic with political and dissident themes.
Drawing is the media used by DOMINIK's "characters", motifs with naïve features that come back in his activity as a tattoo artist. The graphic trait is further adopted by Natalia Korotyaeva, who focus on the human figure and its position within society is translated in ink drawings of nervous and cursive features to which she adds sculptures with clenched fists, enigmatic eyes and archaic smiles. While Rebecca Picci's spheres on display might be a presence of good omen, capable of predicting the future.
Flavio Degen showcases little demons of contemporary entertainment in his exaggeration, enthusiasm and lack of distinction.
With a journey full of suggestions, MY little DEMONS for 2024, invites to observe the work as a tangible manifestation of the artist's essence.
A daimon, a divine entity as protector or guardian spirit for this new year.
